Adobe Systems (NASDAQ:ADBE) Wins Patent Case against Tarkus – ADBE, IBM, ORCL, ADSK

Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE) won’t have to pay over $7 million in royalties after a federal jury decided on Friday that it did not violate a patent possessed by Tarkus Imaging Inc.

The seven member board of judges in Wilmington, Delaware, deliberated almost 4 hours following a two-week inquiry before also deciding Tarkus’s 2003 patent is applicable.

Adobe, the biggest manufacturer of graphic-design software, lawyer Frank Scherkenbach stated in his closing argument that Adobe did not violates this patent.

San Jose, California- based Tarkus lawyer Frederick Lorig stated in his summation that they believe they have satisfied their burden of proof. He reported that another competitor, a United States unit of Nikon Corp, paid $7 million for the patent rights and that Adobe should do the identical.
