Mexico City-based America Movil SAB de CV (ADR) (NYSE:AMX) reported that profit in the second- quarter moved down 46% as the Mexican peso weakened against the greenback.
America Movil, the biggest wireless carrier in the Americas by subscribers, reported in a statement on Thursday after markets closed that net income moved down to 13.3 billion pesos or $990 million from 24.3 billion pesos previous year. The company reported that sales moved up 9.3% to 191.7 billion pesos, evaluated against the median analyst forecast of 189.1 billion pesos, as shown in the Bloomberg compiled data.
America Movil, owned by billionaire Carlos Slim, is issuing additional debt in foreign currencies as it expands exterior to Latin America, deciding to acquire this year in the United States and Europe region.
