American International Group (NYSE:AIG) To Sell AIA Stocks; Plans to Buy Back Shares from U.S. Treasury – AIG, AFG, ANAT, HCC

American International Group, Inc (NYSE:AIG), based in New York, is raising around $2 billion selling a stake in AIA Group Ltd as the corporation looks to buy back its shares from the United States Treasury Department.

Bloomberg News obtained term sheet confirms that AIG, the bailed-out United States insurer, was offering around 600 million AIA shares at HK$26.30 to HK$26.50 or $3.39 to $3.42, more than the mid-point of the original range of HK$25.75 to HK$26.75.

American International Group reported in a statement on Thursday that it plans to spend around $5 billion repurchasing its shares.
