The Cupertino, California-based Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced on Thursday that Dan Riccio would take over as hardware engineering chief to succeed Bob Mansfield, who aims to quit in the coming months.

The world’s most valuable company reported in a statement that Riccio is presently the vice president head of iPad hardware engineering. Bob Mansfield joined Apple through an acquisition in 1999.

Apple said reported that Mansfield worked closely with Apple head of design Jony Ive to make sure that products, comprising the iPhone, iPad and Mac, functioned as well as they seemed to be.
