San Francisco aims to suspend purchases of the Cupertino, California-based Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) computers after the corporation discontinued contribution in an environmental certification program used by governments and universities to make buying verdicts.
The city chief information officer Jon Walton reported in an interview on Wednesday that San Francisco’s 50 departments and 28,000 workers would no longer be capable of use city funds to purchase Apple desktops, laptops or monitors as the world’s most valuable company dropped out of a rating system called EPEAT to track the environmental impact of computers.
