Matthew Paull and Mikan, along with present board chairman Hatim Tyabji, were among the directors who pushed previous spring for Best Buy founder Richard Schulze to be removed from the board.

Schulze has been attempting to purchase the consumer electronics retailer and has until the finish of February to make what is projected to be a multi-billion-dollar offer for the company.

ESL Investments Inc, the hedge fund managed by Edward Lampert, picked former Best Buy Co interim CEO G. Mike Mikan as president.
