Carlos Slim Purchases 8.4% YPF (NYSE:YPF) Stake – YPF, PZE, PBR, XOM

Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has purchased an 8.4% stake in YPF SA (ADR) (NYSE:YPF), Argentina’s major oil-and-gas corporation.

The YPF reported in the filling sent to the local stock exchange on Thursday that Carlos Slim purchased 6.59% of YPF’s stake or around 25.9 million Class D shares for $288 million. Mr. Slim also purchased one more 1.77% or around seven million shares as part of the agreement.

Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim got the stake through Grupo Financiero Inbursa SAB de CV. The shares earlier belonged to Argentina’s Eskenazi family, which possessed 25.46% of YPF through Petersen Energia.
