ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) and Origin Energy Joint Venture Decides Expansion in LNG Project – COP, CVX, MPC, XOM

Houston-based ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) and Sydney-based Origin Energy reported in separate statements on Wednesday that the joint venture comprising ConocoPhillips and Origin Energy has decided the expansion of a US$20 billion gas-export plan in Queensland state .

ConocoPhillips and Origin announced the partners had decided to expand the scheme to 2 liquefied-natural-gas, or LNG, production businesses. The United State Corporation reported the earlier US$20 billion projected cost of building the 2 units remained.

Origin reported that while the cost project had not changed considerably, it has approved to begin stating it in Australia dollars rather than US dollars. That changes the projected cost to 23 billion Australian dollars or US$23.6 billion.
