D.R. Horton Inc. announced Monday its Q2 profit rose 46% to $40.6 million, or 13 cents per share, as compared to $27.8 million, or 9 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.

The home builder’s revenue for the quarter closed March 31 increased to $935.6 million against $733.1 million.

Wall Street analysts projected the company to earn 4 cents per share on sales of $853.5 million, in accordance with a poll by FactSet Research.

Looking forward, D.R. Horton stated that it anticipates being out of its three-year cumulative loss position before the close of its fiscal year, if current trends continue. Home-sales gross margins are likely to stay in the mid-16% to mid-17% range, the company stated.

Its competitors include KB Home (NYSE:KBH) that slipped -2.93% to $7.62 with the total traded volume of 1.03 million shares and Lennar Corporation (NYSE:LEN) that dropped -4.04% to $24.69 with the total traded volume of 2.68 million shares.
