In this report: Cytori Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:CYTX), Frontier Communications Corp. (NYSE:FTR) and Andatee China Marine Fuel Service (NASDAQ:AMCF).
Cytori Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:CYTX) is trading over 4.6 percent higher today and over 15.6 percent higher since the start of the week. The company’s stock has been a roller coaster over the past few years swinging from a low of $1.42 in March 2009 to a high of $9.50 per share in January 2010. It currently trading at $3.18 per share. Cytori has invested heavily into developing and patenting its Celution technology platform which extracts adipose derived regenerative cells from portions of fat. Adipose contains a large source of regenerative cells which can be used in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery markets. It is said that the company has invested over $200 million in the Celution technology platform but the investment has thus far failed to pay off for shareholders and has lead to a long period of highs and lows in its stock price.
Frontier Communications Corp. (NYSE:FTR) is trading 1.17 percent lower today and 0.92 percent lower since the beginning of the week. The company was in the news for a couple of different reasons this week. On Wednesday a report from The StarTribune stated that the company was being sued by four customers for allegedly overcharging them with unrelated or undisclosed fees. On a separate note Frontier Communications was noted as being one of the highest-yielding stocks. The company currently pays a 75 cents dividend to shareholder which equated to a yield of 12.5 percent on a $6 stock price. The stock currently trades at $5.97 per share.
Andatee China Marine Fuel Service (NASDAQ:AMCF) started the week off as one of Nasdaq’s largest volume increasers. It traded 540,900 shares on Monday, 2,527.4 percent higher than its 65 day average volume. The jump came as the company terminated its old stock repurchase program in which the company agreed to buyback common shares up to the value of $0.5 million.The new program is four times that size. Andatee China Marine Field Service closed 7.12 percent lower on Friday at $3.13 per share.
