The closings, to happen by summer next year, will cause a loss of almost 1500 jobs on the whole and end the US auto manufacturer’s long history of vehicle-making in the UK.
Ford made its first car in the UK back in 1911. Ford is holding its diesel-engine production factory at Dagenham and its petrol engine production facility at Bridgend.
Its competitors include General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) that surged +1.10% to $23.95 with the total traded volume of 5.46 million shares and Toyota Motor Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:TM) that dropped +1.24% to $78.33 with the total traded volume of 417,419.00 shares.
