Ford Motor (NYSE:F) Starts Production of New Escape in Louisville; Invests $600 Million – F, TM, GM, HMC

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has transformed an almost 60 year old assembly factory into the new plant for the redesigned Escape, its admission in the ultra-competitive small SUV group. The company also boosted the labor force to manufacture the vehicle.

Ford Motor invested $600 million to overhaul its Louisville Assembly factory. The facility manufactured Ford Explorers from the early 1990s until late 2010.

The new plant is celebrating the start of the new Escape on Wednesday. The auto maker reported that the plant’s hourly labor force would swell to almost 4,200 once a third shift is added current fall.
