The Mountain View, California based Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), world’s biggest search engine site owner, is designing a new phone, dubbed X Phone, to get on rivals the Cupertino, California based Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung in the Smartphone market, a media report reported on Friday.

The Wall Street Journal reported by mentioning unnamed sources that Google has a team of engineers at Motorola developing the new device, which is anticipated to be launched sometime coming year.

Google Inc’s stock plunged almost 1% in afternoon trading session while shares of Apple, world’s most valuable company, plunged around 1.2%.
