Hancock (NASDAQ:HBHC) Announces $40.5M Income in First Quarter- HBHC, VWO, SDS, ING, AIG, XHB, TZA

Hancock Holding Company (NASDAQ: HBHC) reported on Friday that its financial results for the Q1 of 2012. Operating income for the Q1 of 2012 was $40.5 million or $.47 a diluted common share evaluated with $45.1 million, or $.53, and $16.4 million, or $.44, in the fourth and Q1 of 2011, respectively. Operating income is described as net income excluding tax-effected merger expenses and securities transactions gains or losses. Included in the financial tables is a settlement of net income to operating income.

Hancock’s return on average assets, excluding merger-related expenses and securities transactions, was 0.85 percent for the Q1 of 2012, evaluated with 0.93 percent in the 4Q of 2011, and 0.81 percent in the Q1 a year before.

(NYSE:AIG) edged up +2.22%, SPDR S&P Homebuilders (ETF) (NYSEARCA:XHB) which also increased +2.58% and Direxion Daily Small Cap Bear 3X Shares (NYSEARCA:TZA) slid -2.49%.

Hancock Holding Company (NASDAQ:HBHC) dropped -8.72% or -$3.17 to close the trading at $33.19 following it hit intraday high level of $34.10. The total traded volume in the previous trading session was 2.03 million shares as compared to average 485,313.00 shares. Its fifty two week trading range was $25.38 – $36.73. The total market capitalization reached $2.81 billion.
