Harvest Natural Resources (NYSE:HNR) Inks Deal to Sell Venezuela Oil Assets; Climbs to Record High Ever – HNR, HUSA, BPZ, APC

The Houston-based Harvest Natural Resources, Inc (NYSE:HNR) stock moved up to the highest level since shares started trading in 1989 after company decided to divest oil assets in Venezuela.

Harvest Natural Resources reported in a statement on Friday that Harvest would vend its 32% stake in Petrodelta SA, a joint venture with Petroleos de Venezuela SA, to Indonesia’s state-owned oil corporation PT Pertamina in a $725 million cash deal. The contract price is four times higher than the corporation’s market value on Friday.

First Capital Alliance LLC senior analyst in Chicago Patrick Goff reported in a telephone interview on Friday that the agreement was worth almost $14 per share if uses the simple math of the net proceeds to the corporation after they pay taxes and transaction costs, and the corporation still has assets in Gabon in western Africa which are valued more than $5 per share.
