Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Unearned Revenue Beats Analysts Forecasts – MSFT, ADBE, IBM, SAP

The Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) posted unearned revenue for the fourth- quarter, a yardstick of future sales, that surpassed analysts’ forecasts, an indication that the company will benefit from commercial demand for its software.

Microsoft, largest software maker, reported in a statement on Thursday that unearned revenue was $20.1 billion in the quarter that ended June 30.

Goldman Sachs Group analyst Heather Bellini stated that analysts on average anticipated $19.4 billion while Bellini’s personal forecast was for $18.9 billion. Profit, without a write-down that offered Microsoft its first loss as a publicly traded corporation, also surpassed forecasts after Microsoft reined in costs.

The software maker reported that its unearned sales received a boost as corporation placed multiyear orders for such products as Office and database software, while they delayed other technology purchases amid weakness in the economy.
