Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) Delays BlackBerry 10; Reports 5 Time Over Forecasted Loss and 5000 Jobs Cut – RIMM, NOK, FSLR, SWIR

Research In Motion Limited (USA) (NASDAQ:RIMM), losing ground to Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), reported that it would delay the BlackBerry 10 phone release, lower 5,000 jobs and reported a quarterly loss that was 5 times more than forecasted.

Shares of the company moved down 22% after the BlackBerry maker announced a loss of 37 cents per share in first-quarter, without special items.

Bloomberg compiled data confirmed that analysts had forecasted a 7 cent loss. Company’s stock plunged 43% to $2.8 billion, missing a forecast of $3.05 billion.

RIM has failed to continue with the capabilities of Apple’s iPhone and Android gadgets, encouraging users to flee the BlackBerry platform.
