Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:SHLD) reported on late Monday that Lou D’Ambrosio is departing from the company as CEO and Chairman Edward Lampert will take over the position as the billionaire hedge fund chief works to restore the retailer.

Hoffman Estates, Illinois-based Sears Holdings reported D’Ambrosio’s sudden quit was for family health matters. The retailer reported in a statement that Edward Lampert will take over at the finish of the company’s fiscal year on Feb 2.

Lampert turns to Sears’s fifth Chief Executive Officer since he merged the retailer and Kmart in March 2005 as the over century-old department-store chain works to emerge from hard times.
