Sony (NYSE:SNE) Releases Xperia Tablet S, Claims to be World’s Slimmest – FB, SNE

In last week of December, Sony (NYSE:SNE) launched its Xperia Tablet S, an entertainment-aimed Android tablet that was sodden with issues and a jazzy design.

Unnecessary to explain, it was not Sony’s most successful release. But the firm is hoping to make right with its latest Xperia Tablet Z.

Declared in Japan in January, Sony (SNE) today unveiled at Mobile World Congress that the Xperia Tablet Z would also be moved to the US in May. The 16 gigabyte Wi-Fi version would have a price tag of $499, and the 32GB model would cost $599.

Sony is asserting it to be the world’s slimmest 10.1-inch tablet at 0.27 inch thick, and it weighs just over a pound. It’s constructed to look same to the Xperia Z smartphone both in physical design and user interface, something Sony needs to achieve with all of its Xperia-branded devices moving ahead.

At the current trading session, Sony Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) shares are up +1.56% to $14.29 while the stocks are trading within the range of $14.21 – $14.30. In the past year, the stock has traded within a range of $9.57 – $22.35. The current session’s volume of 50,197.00 shares is lower from their average daily trading volume of 5.03 million shares.

Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) is providing free or discounted messaging access to its members via these users’ mobile operators in over a dozen countries, the firm reported late Sunday.

Facebook (FB) reported the promotion contains over 18 operators in such countries as Portugal, Ireland, the Philippines, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Via this promotion, free or discounted data access would be accessible in the next months on Messenger for Android, Messenger for iOS and Facebook for Every Phone, which is now enhanced for chat, the firm reported in a blog post.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) shares are up +1.35% to $27.50 while the stock is trading within the range of $27.15 – $27.53 in the current trading session. In the last 12 months the shares have traded between $17.55 and $45.00. The current session’s volume of 1.95 million shares is lower from their average daily trading volume of 66.66 million shares.
