Toyota Motor (TM) Gears Up in 1Q; Marks Historic Sales

Toyota Motor (NYSE:TM) geared up to get strong profit in the initial quarter and stated that it focused to set a record-breaking selling of 9.76 million cars in 2012, guiding an upturn by Japanese vehicle manufacturers following a year of natural catastrophes and a harsh appreciated currency.

Toyota reported that net profit for the recent quarter ended on June had increased to ¥290.3 billion, or $3.7 billion, as compared to ¥1.1 billion last year same quarter, following the amount of vehicles it sold almost two fold.

The quick sales progress encouraged the Toyota City-located automaker to increase its global sales objective of 180,000 cars to 9.76 million cars in 2012, which would be a hike of 23 percent as compared to the 7.95 million vehicles company sold in 2011.

Its competitors include General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) having profit margin of 3.79% with overall market cap of 29.97 billion and Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) that possessed profit margin 14.06% with total market cap of 34.04 billion.

Other consumer goods stocks include Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (NASDAQ:GMCR) having profit margin 9.52%, Sealed Air Corp (NYSE:SEE) with 1.30% profit margin, Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX) having 5.10% profit margin, Kraft Foods Inc (NASDAQ:KFT) having profit margin of 6.49%, The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) with 11.40% profit margin and Avon Products, Inc. (NYSE:AVP) with 3.58% profit margin.

Toyota Motor Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:TM) reported the gain of +5.44% or -$4.15 to trading at $81.18 following it hit intraday high level of $81.32. The total traded volume in the current trading session is 1.49 million shares as compared to average 375k. Its fifty two week trading range is $60.37- $87.15. The total market capitalization reached $128.60 billion.

The stock price was ahead its 52 week low price with 27.60% and it lagged behind -11.61% from its 52 week maximum mark. Stock price volatility for last month remained 0.96%. In its share capital, the company has 1.72 billion outstanding shares out of which 1.61 billion shares have been floated in the market.

TM presented an optimistic weekly performance of 3.94% with respect to its rate of return and it remained -4.76% for the month. However, the performance for a quarter experienced a negative change of -2.76% and it slumped -5.21% for a year and its year to date performance remained in green with 16.48%.

Current stock price is in the upbeat territory taking into account of 20 days moving average with +0.92% and continued bullish run for 50 days moving average with +0.48%. Its earning per share for the past twelve months was $2.30. Company’s beta coefficient was at 0.74. Beta measures the amount of market risk associated with market trade.
