Toyota Motors Co. (NYSE:TM) Claims First Spot in Consumer Reports’ Survey

Japanese brands gained the first seven positions in Consumer Reports’ annual reliability rankings, forcing back their US and European opponents.

Toyota Motor Corp.’s Scion, Lexus and Toyota brands captured the top three spots and the Toyota Prius C, a subcompact hybrid, got the highest overall score. Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura were near behind.

The rankings, published on Monday, anticipated the dependability of 2013 model-year vehicles formed on surveys of Consumer Reports’ readers.

In 2012, 800,000 people submitted information on 1.2 million vehicles from the 2010 to 2012 model years.

Toyota has upturned from a series of natural catastrophes to widen its overall sales lead over US leading car maker General Motors.

As per reported to NBC News, Toyota reported on Friday that it sold 7.4 million vehicles worldwide in the initial nine months of this year, 450,000 above General Motors. Toyota’s sales jumped up 28 percent in that phase, with sales by GM only hiking 2.5 percent.
