United Continental, the world’s biggest air carrier, announced $309 million of the charges link to a deal with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp that changes its duty to issue up to $500 million of senior notes.
There were also outlays of almost $99 million linked with integrating systems and training, repainting planes and severance associated with job shatters.
The carrier reported that it projected an income tax benefit of $9 million and a gain of $14 million from sales of assets.
