Visa Inc, (NYSE:V) MasterCard Inc and banks that provide their credit cards have decided to a $7.25 billion settlement with US retailers in a court case on the fixing of credit and debit card charges in what could be the biggest antitrust resolution in history of US banks.
The resolution, if accepted by a judge, would end dozens of court cases filed by traders in 2005. The card firms and banks would also let stores to begin fining users more for using few credit cards in an attempt to guide them toward cheaper sorts of payment.
A further $525 million would be given to stores litigating independently, as per stated by the reports.
Its competitors include American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) that moved up 1.76% to $57.93 with the total traded volume of 5.01 million shares and Discover Financial Services (NYSE:DFS) that surged 1.22% to $34.96 with the total traded volume of 2.62 million shares.
Other services stocks with bullish trend include R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NASDAQ:RRD) up 4.83% to $12.60, Genpact Limited (NYSE:G) up 4.70% to $17.14 and United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE:URI) up 4.06% to $34.89, whereas with bearish trend include Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd (NYSE:EXM) down -13.21% to $0.460, Seven Arts Pictures plc (NASDAQ:SAPX) down -6.25% to $0.0300 and The Wet Seal, Inc. (NASDAQ:WTSLA) down -5.08% to $2.99.
Visa Inc (NYSE:V) moved up 1.18% or +$1.45 to close at $124.09 following it hit intra day high level of $124.64. The total traded volume in the last trading session was 3.03 million shares as compared to average 3.53 million shares. Its fifty two week trading range was $76.11 – $127.47. The total market capitalization reached $101.01 billion.
The stock price was ahead its 52 week low price with 64.33% and it lagged behind -2.65% from its 52 week maximum mark. Stock price volatility for last month remained 2.14%.
