Vodafone Group Plc (ADR) (NASDAQ:VOD) split its European business into 2 units, promoting Philipp Humm and Paolo Bertoluzzo to head the regional businesses as the world’s second-biggest mobile phone corporation reorganizes its structure.

Vodafone reported that Philipp Humm would manage the northern and eastern European business including Germany, UK and Turkey, while Bertoluzzo would direct the southern European unit including Spain.

The restructuring pursues the planned quit of Europe chief Michel Combes to Vivendi. The reorganization permits Newbury, England-based Vodafone to set their possible succession candidates to Chief Executive Officer Vittorio Colao, according to a people with knowledge about the matter said in May.
