Walgreen (WAG) Comparable Sales Slips Down in May

Walgreen Co.’s (NYSE:WAG) comparable store sales declined a little larger-than-predicted 5.8% in the month of May, logging a fifth consecutive bearish month, as the drug-retailer chain’s decline of Express Scripts Holding Co.’s members carried on bearing a charge.

Experts surveyed by Thomson Reuters lately predicted a drop of 5.2%.

In the month May, Walgreen’s same-pharmacy sales declined 8.5%, an inch less than the 9% decline which experts had panic.

A calendar shift optimistically left an affect on pharmacy sales by almost 1.3 percentage points. Although, prescriptions filled were 7.6% lower on the failure of Express Scripts members, which accounted for 10.6 percentage points to the drop.
Its competitors include CVS Caremark Corporation (NYSE:CVS) that slipped -0.39% to $43.94 with the total traded volume of 1.27 million shares and Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD) that dropped -0.79% to $1.26 with the total traded volume of 1.11 million shares.

Other services stocks with bullish trend include MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) up 3.94% to $10.82, eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) up 0.57% to $39.38 and Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS) up 0.90% to $12.88, whereas with bearish trend include Dollar General Corp. (NYSE:DG) down -3.11% to $46.98, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) down -0.30% to $65.79 and CSX Corporation (NYSE:CSX) down -0.20% to $20.30.

Walgreen Company (NYSE:WAG) dropped -1.050% or -$0.32 to trading at $30.19 at 11:21AM EDT following it hit intra day high level of $30.48. The total traded volume in the current trading session is 1.85 million shares as compared to average 6.69 million shares. Its fifty two week trading range is $29.80 – $45.34. The total market capitalization reached $26.05 billion.

The stock price was ahead its 52 week low price with 1.01% and it lagged behind -31.85% from its 52 week maximum mark. Stock price volatility for last month remained 1.76%.
