Wednesday’s most active stock report (KORS, ASGN, IHS, FRAN, WXS)

Stocks struggled to find much ground today after data relating to the housing market was less encouraging than experts expected.

The data showed that sales of existing homes slipped by 0.9 percent to an annual rate of 4.59 million units according to the National Association of Realtors. Economists and analysts had expected the housing data to show an improving economy. A revision of January sales though showed better than previous reported units sold with 4.63 million as apposed to 4.57 million units.

Here’s a quick look a some of the most active stocks in U.S. markets this morning.

Michael Kors Holding (NASDAQ:KORS) traded another 1.6 percent higher today with a 60 percent increase in the number of shares that have passed through its market compared to its 3 month daily average. The company currently trades at $48.87 per share.

On Assignment (NASDAQ:ASGN) seen a volume change of 1,380 percent during todays trading while shares have gained more than 28 percent in price. The company currently trades at $17.52 per share.

IHS Inc. (NYSE:IHS) seen a volume change of 79 percent on Wednesday. Shares have jumped 0.6 percent higher so far today to a current price of $98.11 per share.

Francesca’s Holdings (NASDAQ:FRAN) is traded over 1.2 percent higher today. The company seen an 78 percent increase in volume compared to its 3 month daily average. Francesca’s currently trades at $31.66 per share.

Wright Express Corp. (NYSE:WXS) had a volume increase of 132 percent compared to its 3 month daily average. The company trades 2.5 percent higher on Wednesday at $64.82 per share.

The Dow currently sits 23 points lower while the Nasdaq has gained 11 points so far.
