About The Job:
Performs a variety of typing assignments, including highly confidential and sensitive material; composes written communications, agendas, and forms based on information relayed by both written and verbal means. Responds to a variety of inquiries, which require considerable knowledge of Medical Center policy, procedures, and operations; and screens and redirects calls and visitors. Maintains calendars and arranges/coordinates meetings. Serves as recorder/assistant. Makes travel arrangements and orders supplies as needed. Provides support for other assistants in area as needed. Maintains files. Performs other responsibilities as requested by the attending physician. Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPAA regulations. Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments. Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development, and participates in medical center and/or departmental education programs. Communicates with and performs duties following the philosophy of MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center and the Sisters of Mercy reflecting the organization’s Mission, Values, and Guiding Behaviors. Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment. Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager or department head.
What we are looking for:
Education [formal]:
Must have completed a one-year formal training program or equivalent.
Experience:
Must have demonstrated competence in office equipment usage, including word processing/ personal computer software; three years of work experience in an office assistant setting required.
Must be able to type a minimum of 60 wpm.
Special Skills and Competencies:
Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual able to work with minimum supervision.
Ability to shift priorities to meet deadlines.
Ability to respect confidentiality of information pertaining to patients, medical staff, colleagues, guests, or Medical Center operations.
Ability to work on multiple projects at one time.
Ability to work with diverse audiences.
Ability to deal diplomatically and tactfully with others.
