Job Description : RoleAs part of P1FCU’s BSA Team, the BSA Analyst role is an entry level position responsible for the day-to-day Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulatory reporting requirements including monitoring, investigating, and reporting of suspicious activity, currency transaction reports, and sanction alerts.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesDescriptionPerform timely reviews of AML software alerts and referrals from departments to determine if activity is sufficiently unusual or out of character to warrant the escalation of the alert for further investigation.Utilizes internal/external resources to investigate and analyze potential fraud and money laundering. Conducts suspicious activities investigations. Review, research, and analyze identified unusual activity and prepare all related investigation documentation to support suspicious or non-suspicious decisions. Preparing and filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with FinCEN when applicable.Perform various BSA related compliance functions or reporting such as OFAC searches, 314(a) searches, member due diligence, enhanced due diligence, beneficial ownership, and periodic high-risk reviews.Assist with the review and monitoring of daily control reports to ensure that all currency transaction reports (CTRs) are completed and filed daily. Assist with initial Filings and annual reviews of the Designation of Exempt Persons.Conduct 314(b) outreach requests and respond to incoming requests for information to facilitate investigations into suspicious activity.Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws, and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.Perform other BSA department duties as requested.Knowledge and SkillsExperienceOne to three years of credit union or related experience. Progress towards Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist (BSACS)Education/Certifications/LicensesMust have Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field. Active certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Experience equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).Interpersonal SkillsCourtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.Other SkillsShould be familiar with generally accepted accounting principles, perform basic and intermediate math skills, be able to travel within departments and from branch to branch as needed to complete audit programs, research and special projects, as well as comply with the Institute of Internal Auditors code of Ethics. Position requires a candidate who is research oriented with excellent communication skills (written and verbal), leadership skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, computer skills; pays attention to details; and has the ability to react to change positively; and to identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.ADA RequirementsPhysical RequirementsPerform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.Working ConditionsMust be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.Mental and/or Emotional RequirementsMust be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
