| Job Description : | Controller As a leading Human Services organization and Top 10 employer locally, we are seeking a full time Controller to oversee financial and accounting activities. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and has a team of direct reports. Responsibilities for Controller: Responsible for external financial audit of Barber related entities. Responsible for corporate tax returns, as well as charitable registrations for Barber related entities Responsible for producing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements of Barber related entities in accordance with GAAP Prepares monthly variance analysis as part of the review process Reports to certain Barber Boards Oversees Accounting, Program Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll Works closely with banks related to disbursements and borrowings Completes various financial reports for external reporting requirements based on financial statements Assist with annual budget process Maintain appropriate financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and reporting systems to ensure accurate financial reporting. Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. Protects financial assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions. Mentor and coach staff in routine tasks as well as developing their management skills. QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA designation required, MBA a plus. Prior experience in public accounting is highly valued. Knowledge of financial accounting software to support financial reporting in an efficient manner. Eight to ten years of experience in financial management with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning. Thorough understanding of GAAP reporting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as analytical and organizational skills.
