Orion’s mission is to offer a suite of proprietary insurance products through both the agent and consumer channels via its best-in-class technology platform.Due to continued company growth, Orion180 has an immediate opening for a Customer Service/Underwriting Specialist at our Melbourne, FL office. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, shows initiative to learn new things, and strives to maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction to support the continued growth of our business. The normal schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm ET, 40 hours/week. Orion180 is not a call center.The Customer Service/Underwriting Specialist will be primarily responsible for completing inspections and making decisions to accept, modify or reject an insurance risk after scrutiny of all the required documents and studies regarding the risk involved.To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position. All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Orion180 operations standards, established security/safety rules, and requirements for attendance. The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:Provide exceptional customer experiences by empowering your agents and policyholders.Ability to navigate through multiple computer applications with speed and accuracy.Ability to effectively research and identify solutions using computer-based resources.Ability to work in a paperless work environment where customer privacy is paramount.Learn and utilize multiple underwriting guides and manuals.Review completed inspections and make decisions to accept, modify or reject an insurance risk after scrutiny of all the required documents and studies regarding the risk involved.Process through the system if meets the criteria.Prepare cancellation or rescission documents if not an acceptable risk.Answer email and phone calls from Agents and PolicyholdersQualifications and Education Requirements6 months experience in providing customer service either via phone or in person.Personal Lines insurance experience preferred.Familiarity with customer databases or comparable technology is preferred.The ability to relate to customers professionally and courteously.A strong interest in using and promoting innovation and technology.Excellent attention to detail and multi-tasking ability.Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.440, 2044 or 220 Property Casualty License or ability to obtain in 60 daysStrong analytical thinking and decision-making skillsRemarkable customer service skillsExperience with Microsoft Office software and Insurance Database utilizationAbility to build positive relationships with Policyholders and Agents.Reliability, Dependability, PunctualitySelf-motivation to learn the products in detail.An interest in ongoing personal development through training and coaching.The ability to maintain excellent attendance and adherence to assigned work schedules.Must have a High School diploma or general education degree (GED).Must be at least 18 years of age or older.Physical DemandsWhile performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, being able to lift light objects (< 25lbs) and using standard office equipment such as a computer and printer.
