Job Description : Case Manager for Economic Empowerment Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Case Manager for Economic Empowerment works in collaboration with the financial educator to provide clients with financial education, skill-building, and resources they can use to manage their finances with confidence. The Case Manager for Economic Empowerment provides direct services to low/moderate-income individuals seeking financial counseling services. He/She is responsible to provide guidance to clients who are considered at risk due to their struggling financial status, living environments, social economic status, and/or disparities in education. The position reports to the New Life Community Ministries (NLCM) Center Manger and works in collaboration with the Program Coordinator.Major ResponsibilitiesAssess client needs via financial health assessment and develop individual action plans/outcome goals with each client.Refer clients to register and attend group financial education classes provided by financial educator.Provide individual coaching and instructional opportunities on topics that include budgeting, savings, credit building, and banking products.Work with management to generate program awareness to residents in need. Conduct client financial coaching through one-on-one or small-group sessions.Demonstrate ability to calculate financial health markers (debt-to-income ratio, net worth, etc.).Ability to pull, review and understand credit reports to assist program clients to improve credit score.Make appropriate external referrals and/or integrate NLCM wrap-around supports (i.e., case management, career counseling and employment services, GED education, food pantry…) to achieve greater results.Engage in ongoing follow-up with clients on a predetermined schedule.Coordinate with financial educator to provide clients high-quality and timely financial education.Ability to collect, input, track and report required client data using client management database and to support completion of management performance reporting.Must have the necessary skill set to empathize with clients about their financial situations, while also providing motivation and moving clients toward positive action.Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal; and excellent writing skills.Ability to articulate the mission, objectives, and programs of the organization.Participate in initial trainings and ongoing professional development trainings.Minimum QualificationsBachelors or Masters in Social Work or related field and minimum of two years of previous direct work experience in social work, human services, or related fields.Experience in financial counseling or coach is a plus.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Energetic people person with the capacity and direct experience to relate to individuals of low wealth/social economic status. Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.Conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change.Ability to set limits and maintain the helping role of the practitioner.Knowledgeable of case management systems and tracking measurable goals and objectives.Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Physical DemandsRegularly required to talk and hear in person and on the telephone. Required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls: and reach with hands and arms to operate computer and other office equipment. Employee frequently lifts and or moves up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.Work HoursThis is a part-time position, 30 hours.
