Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc., is one of the largest metals distributors in the US. We operate approximately 100 locations with 3,900 employees in North America, Canada and China. We are currently seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to contribute as an essential member within the corporate accounting team in downtown Chicago, IL. This position will report to the Director of Financial Reporting but will work with all members of the team.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the monthly accounting for technical accounting areas including but not limited to revenue recognition (ASC 606), Lease accounting (ASC 842), derivatives, equity, and valuations.
Lead the accounting for acquisitions including pre-close diligence, purchase accounting, and integration.Implement a hedge accounting programResponsible for technical accounting research and writing technical accounting memos.Assist with the financial audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
Prepare/review footnote disclosures.
Work with Legal, FP&A, and other business partners in analyzing transactions, determining accounting treatment and impact on forecasts.
Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Accounting,
CPA required5+ years of accounting experience with at least 2+ years from a public accounting or consulting firm with in-depth SEC knowledge.
A strong foundation in accounting principles, including US GAAP and writing technical accounting memos.Ability to communicate technical solutions and ideas to non-technical audiences.
The ability to confidently make recommendations to executive decision makers.Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Experience Required: 5 – 7 Years
