General Description
Our client is seeking an Operations Controller to oversee plant site accounting for ten global manufacturing facilities. Reporting to the CFO, the Operations Controller is a key member of the accounting and manufacturing teams responsible for building the manufacturing accounting team. The position will collaborate with Senior Management and Plant Management to provide strategic cost analysis and forecasting for the business.
Position Responsibilities:
Oversee all domestic and international manufacturing plant accounting, reporting and analysis and budgeting/forecasting.
Develop, mentor and manage plant accounting resources.
Lead the monthly/year-end closing and financial reporting process, analysis of operating results and budget versus actual reporting, including detailed explanations of variances for manufacturing operations.
Lead the budgeting/forecasting processes for manufacturing operations to ensure that business objectives are appropriately incorporated into both the short-term and long-term plan.
Participate in strategic planning, including expense forecasting, manufacturing variance accounting, analysis and reporting, and operation strategies.
Lead the process to develop and maintain product standard costs, working with plant personnel to ensure they are properly implemented.
Work with plant accounting to oversee inventory control procedures at each location.
Work with manufacturing and engineering on capital project financial analysis.
Create and implement a spending control process for manufacturing overhead for facilities.
Partner with corporate accounting and shared services on routine close activities as well as issue resolution and projects.
Support internal and external audits
Other projects as needed.
Position Requirements:
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
10+ years of experience in manufacturing finance/accounting.
Strong standard cost accounting background in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills and demonstrate great attention to detail.
Demonstrated leadership ability and team management
Compliance, ethics and internal control mindset.
Experience with SAP (or similar ERP system) and experience with OneSource tax software preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communications skills
Demonstrated ability to interact and team with professionals in various functional areas to resolve complex issues throughout the organization
Ability to work under pressure and within short time constraints in a complex system and business environment
