| Job Description : | WSFS Bank is currently seeking a Small Business Credit Underwriter. The Small Business Credit Underwriter will primarily be responsible for underwriting business purpose loans of $1.5 million or less including lines of credit, term loans, commercial mortgages, and real estate investor transactions according to lending policy, ensuring the Bank’s standard of quality and procedures are met. The incumbent will review, analyze and render decisions for customer applications for small business loans to maximize the balance of credit opportunity and risk and ensure that all loan requests for small business loans are underwritten in accordance with current Bank’s policies, and federal and state regulations up to incumbent’s loan authority. In addition to the Bank’s policies, the Underwriter must be able to work in a fast-paced environment to deliver on Small Business service level agreements. The Small Business Credit Underwriter will be expected to consider and recommend alternative loan structures and counter offers when appropriate. This may include requiring additional credit enhancements or referring to the SBA team to mitigate higher risk customers. The Small Business Credit Underwriter will review personal and business credit bureau information, as well as review financial statements, personal and corporate tax returns and calculate financial ratios/complete financial analysis to assist in assessing creditworthiness of applicant. The incumbent will make credit decisions, document the file and system fully to ensure the bank is in compliance with regulatory requirements and obtain the appropriate approvals on requests outside of assigned credit authority as well as document the appropriate denial information to ensure the accurate preparation of all Adverse Action letters. Single signing authority up to $500,000. The Small Business Credit Underwriter must have flexibility to assist junior underwriters with underwriting business credit card requests and Express loans ($100,000 and less). The incumbent may also need to assist with underwriting of loan modification requests and renewals of lines of credit as necessary. The Small Business Credit Underwriter must also be comfortable co-signing loan transactions up to their assigned authority for junior underwriters. The incumbent will be expected to work closely with the Loan Documentation team on Post-approval items or general risk management issues. Other job functions may include, but not limited to: Review of real estate appraisals and environmental reports Review of collateral release requests Review of bank compliance and coding errors Speak to customers regarding credit or financial questions periodically Completion of projects assigned by Small Business Credit Manager This is a full-time position located in Wilmington, DE. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, or equivalent work experience. Must have 2-5 years of credit review experience, including a strong background reviewing personal and business financial statements, with proven ability to render sound credit decision on own authority. Must have a strong knowledge in business credit underwriting and analysis, including the review and interpretation of client financial statements and tax returns, review and understanding of data in both personal and business bureaus. Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills to interact with both internal and external customers. Must have strong PC spreadsheet skills and excellent analytical skills. This position requires independent thinking in collaboration with other professionals to address financial issues. Must have knowledge of credit and regulatory policy. Must have the ability to multitask, balance obligations, and prioritize to ensure deadlines are met. WSFS Bank is inclusive and supportive of individual needs.
