|Job Description :||TMLT is seeking an underwriter who will be primarily responsible for the evaluation and assessment of medical professional liability risks arising from physician and ancillary staff exposures. Qualified candidate will consistently apply underwriting standards and deliver high quality customer service to clients.Responsibilities: · Evaluates and determines acceptability of new applicants and renewal policies as well as other transactions relating to coverage within defined territory, following established guidelines.· Monitors team handling of all work tasks new business applications from initial receipt of application to issuance of policy, to ensure timely completion of work.· Communicates daily with internal and external clients, including policyholders and agents.· Responds to coverage questions from prospective applicants, policyholders, group administrators and agents and evaluates requests for changes in coverage.· Provides proposal pricing and renewal presentations on group accounts.· Cultivates and maintains relationships with agents, prospective and current clients to build a strong book of business.· Strategizes with agents to identify new business opportunities throughout the year.· Supervises, evaluates, and completes reviews on assigned team regularly.· Develops and attains continuing professional self-development path.Some travel required, including overnight stays. Note, travel requirements are being temporarily adjusted during the pandemic.Desired SkillsSkills and Qualifications:*Knowledge of professional liability insurance underwriting fundamentals and principles.Strong analytical reasoning aptitude and the ability to make sound underwriting decisions under pressure, through application of underwriting guidelines and standards.Detail oriented nature and ability to produce highly accurate work.Risk analysis and selection of new and renewal physician and healthcare provider business.Excellent organizational and time-management skills are essential.Aptitude at developing positive working relationships and displaying a professional demeanor.Critical thinker possessing strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong professional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate information accurately, clearly, and as intended.Ability to excel within a team environment.Leadership and empowerment skills.Effectively working in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word and Excel).Bachelor’s degree preferred. Certification in professional insurance programs such as RPLU or CPCU preferred, but not required.A minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional liability underwriting experience required. Medical professional liability experience strongly preferred.
