A look at this past week (+ my 6 goals for this week)

She crawled up to me one morning last week and fell asleep again.

I can’t get enough of these baby hugs.

Kathrynne and Kaitlynn were on school trips last week, so he and I were able to spend more time together…which was so much fun!

She loves taking care of her babydoll these days. It’s so sweet to see!

She’s perfected the art of finger-wagging and it’s so funny!

He’s all in books now. He sits down, turns the pages and “reads” them. It’s the cutest!

He looks so grown up in this chair at therapy!

I posted this on Instagram last week…

Earlier this week I took Kierstyn out for a walk in our neighborhood. It was raining a bit, so we put on our coats before we left. I took this photo about a quarter mile in a walk. I was thinking how refreshing the light rain was.

Less than ten minutes later, the floodgates of heaven opened for us and it began to rain. We were about 3/4 mile from home, the wind howled around us and blew the rain around so it made visibility and pushing a stroller very difficult. Kierstyn and I were both soaked and she started to cry.

I wasn’t sure what to do. I knew we had to go home to get her dry as soon as possible. But I pushed the pram as fast as I could and didn’t get much further because of the wind and rain.

I felt so bad that I took her out and wondered what the hell I should do (as she cried and we both got more and more soaked and colder) when I see a car approaching. As the car gets closer, I almost jump for joy to see it’s Jesse! I hadn’t even thought of trying to text him (I’m not sure I could handle how wet everything was!), but he’d realized we were in the rain and had come to look for us and to save.

It wasn’t just one of the most romantic gestures ever – especially in my cold and soggy state! – but it was such a picture of my heavenly Father to me.

How many times does God save me – before I even think of asking for help or even knowing I need help! (Isaiah 65:24)

It reminds me of a quote from @brantansen’s book, Unoffendable: “The goodness of God does not depend on my attention to it.”

God is always working for us – often behind the scenes in ways we don’t even see or know!

It reminds me of two specific cases this past week where God worked out a lot of details for me on things I didn’t even know were so important beforehand. I saw His hand so clearly in the details afterwards – when I didn’t even think about it or knew to pray about it!

He is good. He is faithful. He is reliable. And even in the stormy days, He works on our behalf to watch over us, carry us, and save us.
