Job Description : | Objectives of the Position The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of accounting activities of the Account Department. Assignments include monitoring, researching, support, compiling and posting month-end journal entries, completing balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal controls. Respond to non-routine complex inquiries in assigned areas requiring judgment and the application of GAAP and Rhenus Logistics policies, procedures and practices. Principle Accountabilities Supervise all Company-wide finance functions Monitor and coordinate with AP and AR Departments to follow up on, and ensure, payment commitments are met. Review all bank/account reconciliations monthly Reconcile petty cash monthly Assist in Treasury function and cash flow estimates Review monthly overhead entries Review monthly job cost reports for accuracy, ESR, ESJ, CCR, etc… Determine and ensure operational close dates are met and perform month end closing Coordinate with accounting staff and ensure monthly accounting is completed within 3 days of month end Prepare and enter monthly general ledger adjustments as required (eg: OH allocations, capital assets) Assist with preparation of FS for all companies on individual and consolidated basis within 3 days of month end closing in two formats: Rhenus reporting and internal reporting Analyze general ledger accounts and reconcile inter-company accounts Prepare appropriate financial statement analysis and reports as requested or on a monthly, quarterly, or annually basis Prepare audit working papers and liaise with external auditors and Rhenus Regional audit team Communicate with external accountants on issues as needed Answer IRS, State, and registration compliance queries when required Prepare and submit management report to Executive team and Corporate as per prescribed schedule Review payroll input prior to submission for processing. Assist with annual and mid-term budgeting. Review budgets in excel or other software Assist with new software selection and implementation as necessary Other financial/cost analysis or special projects as requested Provide guidance and support to accounting staff Communicate with other departments and provide support and guidance where necessary Additional duties as requested Education & Work Experience Requirements/Skills 5+ years of management experience required in accounting, preferably in Freight Forwarding or 3PL 5+ years of experience as a CPA CMA &/or MBA a plus Excellent communication Strong desire to learn and grow Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or equivalent experience highly preferred Strong Leadership skills Team player with ability to work with cross-functional teams and all levels of management Ability and experience in managing others and prioritizing work Ability to train and instruct others on how to perform tasks Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Languages: English, Spanish and German preferred |
