Title: Commercial Loan Compliance Specialist
Department: Risk Management
Reports to: Quality Assurance Supervisor
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Job Grade: 10
Purpose: Primarily responsible for conducting independent, post-closing reviews of commercial loan documents in accordance with statutory and regulatory compliance of Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Flood Insurance, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Bank Secrecy Act/Office of Foreign Assets Control, Regulation O/Insiders, Regulation U/Securities (if applicable), as well as established Credit Union policies. Ensure accuracy and completeness of required documentation and confirm consistency with core processor.
JOB SPECIFIC RESULTS
Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of all lending regulations as they pertain to UKFCU commercial products.
Review commercial real estate loan files to ensure compliance with all applicable Credit Union policies and procedures as well as Federal and State regulations.
Review collateral files to ensure established standards are met including compliance with federal and state regulations and conformance to Credit Union policy, as well as ensuring the Credit Unions security interest is properly established and our lien position is upheld.
Ensure the quality, completeness, and accuracy of supporting loan documentation and analysis.
Cross check core systems to loan documents to ensure quality and accuracy.
Assist management in the preparation for and during audits and exams.
Evaluate new memberships and share accounts to determine compliance with internal policy/procedures that conform to applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
Communicate with Financial Service Officer and lending assistants to provide guidance on the correct way to document loan files and remedy existing issues.
Maintain knowledge of current policies, procedures, and regulations while remaining up-to-date on documentation and lien perfection requirements.
Identify and note exceptions, identify factors causing exceptions, and make recommendations to correct deficiencies and modify operations to reduce exceptions.
Produce and present exception reports to management for corrective action, identifying errors and deficiencies within core functions of the Credit Union.
Guard against fraud and negligence by officers, employees, and members within the accounting and loan production areas.
Attend required training to enhance lending compliance knowledge.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Comply with UKFCU policies and procedures by enforcing and adhering to internal UKFCU procedures and Board-established policies.
Comply with federal, state, and local regulations and legal requirements by enforcing and adhering to requirements.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by: maintaining an awareness of competitors rates and terms, industry trends and technology; attending staff meetings; identifying opportunities to attend seminars that enhance skills and maintain knowledge of new products that could assist in improving operational effectiveness; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; and participating in professional societies.
Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing corporate and individual goals and other related results as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
College degree or equivalent is required.
Minimum 5 years experience in collateral/post-closing review department and financial institution auditing procedures.
Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of commercial lending practices.
Exhibit self-motivation while being detail oriented and able to take direction.
Exhibit professional demeanor ana a cooperative attitude with excellent organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills being a must.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstrate excellent time management skills.
Ability to communicate with others one-on-one and in groups, fielding questions, and responding to and reporting complaints.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions while dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to work independently.
