Job Opening for Manager of Corporate Development in Leslie’s Poolmart (2005 E INDIAN SCHOOL RD STE 101, Phoenix, AZ 85016)

About the Opportunity

As the Manager, Corporate Development / M&A, you will collaborate with leaders across the Leslie’s organization to identify, assess, and complete acquisitions and strategic investments. Leslie’s is engaged in a programmatic M&A strategy with the goal of completing several transactions each year.

You will be primarily responsible for supporting all elements of the M&A process. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining a pipeline of acquisition targets, conducting preliminary due diligence, preparing internal investment briefings, and managing the various due diligence work streams across internal and external stakeholders. You will also interface with target management teams and will be involved in deal negotiation.

This role will report to Leslie’s VP Growth & Strategy. Accordingly, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a multitude of company-wide strategic growth initiatives in addition to the core M&A responsibilities.

This is a newly created position with broad responsibility and significant opportunity for career progression within Leslie’s.

In addition, the Manager Corporate Development / M&A will also be responsible for the following:

Partner with other members of Leslie’s M&A practice to identify, evaluate, and execute acquisitions, strategic investments, joint ventures, and other transactions across all lines of business
Actively manage pipeline of acquisition targets to ensure consistent deal flow
Prepare deal leads for initial outreach to business owners with publicly available information
Evaluate new transaction opportunities, prepare investment briefing memos, and present quality acquisition candidates to Leslie’s M&A team
Conduct transaction-related financial modeling and valuation analysis
Coordinate confirmatory due diligence work streams. This requires working closely with third-party advisors and internal stakeholders across various business groups to manage multiple work streams while keeping to a strict transaction timeline
Support various integration efforts post-closing
Partner with VP Growth & Strategy to solve complex business problems and advance various strategic growth initiatives

Qualifications – External

2+ years of transferrable working experience
Prior experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, venture capital, or management consulting preferred but not required
Bachelor’s degree – finance, accounting, or business-related preferred
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
Ability to organize, facilitate, and manage a pipeline of different projects simultaneously
Ability to work cross-functionally and in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with Consumer & Retail industry preferred but not required
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for employment
