PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The primary purpose of this role is to partner with cross functional business partners as a financial subject matter expert in support of Merchandising Product Line Reviews (PLRs). This is accomplished by cross-functional collaboration to convert complex business strategies into financial forecasts for these projects. The role will involve developing business cases supported by Discounted Cash Flow models while providing proactive analysis, insights, and recommendations to optimize business performance.
To accomplish this, the Sr. Financial Analyst must have knowledge of financial and business analytics principles. This individual will collaborate with Finance, Merchandising, Assortment Planning, and Supply Chain peers to ensure that insights from functional areas and business units are understood and incorporated into work products. Additionally, the Sr. Financial Analyst must be able to work effectively within a matrixed organization to ensure that insights from other functional areas are understood and incorporated into work products.
In this role, the Sr. Financial Analyst will learn:
Core merchandising concepts as it relates to PLRs and how they drive value for Lowe’s
An understanding of Lowe’s Strategy and how PLRs are leveraged to achieve company goals
A foundational knowledge of a variety of product categories carried at Lowe’s
An understanding of space and inventory productivity and levers we employ to drive improvement
An understanding of vendor agreements and their associated financial impacts in a PLR
RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENTS:
Supports Product Line Reviews (PLRs) for multiple merchandise divisions and leads the financial modeling of those projects.
Works cross functionally with Sr. Finance Managers, Assortment Planners, Cost Management, Merchants, and Supply Chain Planners to determine the strategy and financial benefits of each product line review.
Supports Sr. Finance Manager by maintaining templates, systems, and other tools needed to automate the Product Line Review process
Completes work assignments by applying up-to-date expertise in subject area; leveraging an understanding of policies, data, and resources to support projects or initiatives; collaborating cross-functionally to solve business problems; identifying, recommending, and implementing ways to address improvement opportunities
Pursues self-development and effective relationships by openly sharing information and knowledge with coworkers and business partners; seeking performance feedback; and adapting to and learning from change
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
4 years of related experience in finance or analytical role
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field or recognized certification within Finance or Accounting fields (e.g. CFA, CPA).
Previous experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, or Corporate Accounting
Previous experience working in retail industry
Strong technical skills (e.g., MicroStrategy, Teradata, Excel)
