Job Description : Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New HampshireThe Chief Financial Officer serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership team. Develops and implements financial strategic plans and goals. Develops financial forecast data, analysis, recommendations, and decision-making support related to key business performance measurements. Provides analysis of performance versus operating budgets and presents overall financial results to drive future decisions. Identifies and addresses government regulations to ensure compliance and adherence to GAAP and industry standards. Continuously monitors and mitigates organizational financial risk. Fosters teamwork, partnership, and collaboration among management, staff at all levels as well as with external contractors and subcontractors.Position Responsibilities: · Serves as a key member of the executive leadership team reporting to the CEO and works closely with the other members of the executive team to guide and oversee the organization’s strategic plan, immediate and future goals, and operational objectives.· Establishes a culture, identity, and sense of team that fosters exceptional service, creative problem solving, and collaboration. Maintains a visible presence within VNH and throughout the D-HH System.· Leads the financial planning process for both near-term and long-term strategic initiatives to ensure sustainability and growth opportunities with the goal to meet the community’s health and wellness needs.· Provides advice to the CEO and executive leadership concerning the financial risks and impacts to the Organization of proposed programs, policies, and organizational relationships.· Promotes an organization-wide culture of financial stewardship with proactive departmental financial accountability and development and utilization of departmental variance reporting tools.· Leads in the development and completion of operating and capital budget in collaboration with operations on an annual basis.· In consultation with the System Treasurer, provides strategic guidance around capital financing options to support the organization’s growth and infrastructure needs.· Provides on-going monthly budget analysis and communication with leadership team to assure comprehensive analysis of trends and variances, benchmarking, and effective reporting.· Continually monitors organization’s financial performance and compliance and delivers key data and financial metrics to leadership in support of short and long-term business decisions or to alert them to unfavorable revenue or expense trends, weakening business volumes, savings opportunities, productivity metrics, etc.· Responsible for the maintenance of records and procedures required to adequately safeguard the assets of the organization.· Ensures that adequate insurance coverage is maintained on the institution and its operations.· Serves as Staff Liaison to the Finance Committee of the VNH Board of Trustees and works closely with the Committee Chair.· Oversees the coordination and delivery of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Shared Services including information services, supply chain, and facilities management.· Collaborates with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Corporate Finance to oversee all aspects of basic accounting operations and ensures timely and accurate execution of all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting. This includes the monthly financial close and final sign-off on the financial statements including balance sheet reserves and estimates.· Collaborates with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Corporate Finance for developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems and timely and accurate financial management in accordance with all GAAP, FASB, Corporate Accounting Policies, and Auditor specifications and monitors and enforces adherence to internal controls.· Collaborates with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Corporate Finance to ensure proper management and oversight of annual financial audit and all applicable audits.· Collaborates with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Treasury to strategize and oversee the pension plan, all investments, and cash flow.· Interviews, hires, and creates on-boarding plans for new or transferred employees; provides mentoring, coaching, and educational activities to support employee development that aligns with organizational goals and objectives; creates performance goals and objectives; tracks and communicates progress. Prepares and conducts regular performance evaluations and performance management plans.· The VNH CFO has a secondary reporting relationship to the D-HH System CFO. The VNH CFO works closely with the System CFO, and other System CFOs, to execute on System finance strategies.
