Job Description : The Controller will play a critical role in developing and managing the Company’s financial integrity. Primary responsibilities include supervising the accounting department, timely and accurately preparing GAAP-compliant financials for Company’s President and its ownership, maintaining sound accounting standards in coordination with Charles Products’ CFO and Controller, and timely/accurate forecasting, budgeting, and financial operational analysis. Additionally, providing critical thinking and value-added insights to financial analysis; and, driving the development and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) contributing to overall profitability, customer retention, and growth.Techstyles is a B2B designer and wholesale provider of high-quality custom apparel including t-shirts, sweatshirts, headwear, and stickers and patches for men, women, and children. The Company sells its products to independent gift shops located at resorts, experiential destinations, breweries and wineries, national parks, and zoos and aquariums. Techstyles creates art and graphics that are transposed onto its custom-designed and sourced apparel. The Company sells through a network of independent sales reps and sources its garments through third parties but performs all screen printing and embroidery in-house.This position is on-site in Hayward, CA, and offers candidates an excellent compensation package including medical, dental, vision, employee discount, retirement, EAP, Holidays, and Vacation.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and financial operational analysis for the Company’s management. Monthly closing to be performed no later than 10 days after month-end. Provide a financial summary of key areas impacting the business compared to plan. This should be maintained monthly and include forecasting thru year-endParticipate in management training, as requested from time-to-timeMaintain and oversee all accounting procedures and processes in coordination with Techstyles’ President and Charles Products’ Controller; such procedures and processes include maintaining timely and accurate production, payroll, benefit, PTO, commission, royalty, departmental, and various tax expense accounting records, fixed asset schedules, chart of accounts, and performing Balance Sheet reconciliations.Follow and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statementsSupport annual financial audit procedures in coordination with Charles Products and 3rd party accounting, auditing, and tax providerPrepare requested Board information (reports, slides, etc.) for the Company and prepare and file tax reports for the Company (CA Franchise Tax, Personal Property Taxes, etc.)Research and analyze all pertinent financial information for review with Company managers, etc.Prepare and continually improve annual budgeting and rolling P&L and cash flow forecastsPrepare financial reports for internal use by collecting, analyzing, formatting, and presenting information in a succinct and usable formatPrudently and thoroughly evaluate new capital projects, including running financial analyses (i.e., ROI, MOIC)Assist The President and the Managers in the ongoing Development of Departmental and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), especially related to financial and metricsPerform credit analysis for new and existing customersSupport President and managers’, as needed, with ongoing project management requirementsAd-hoc business performance analysis and reporting for management and BoardMaintains technical accounting knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publicationsOrganize and Execute Annual Physical Inventory, monitor and assist in the control of inventory transactions as it relates to book stock accuracyMinimal travel, 10%Additional duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for supervision of the accounting staffSupervises staff following Company policy and applicable Federal, State, and local applicable lawsResponsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and development, and terminating employeesPlan, assign, and direct workAppraise performance, reward, and discipline employeesAddress complaints and resolve problemsQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
