Job Description : Summary
Reporting to the Financial Accounting Supervisor, the Financial Accountant I is primarily responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with the preparation of tax schedules and filings. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and demonstrated knowledge of technical and operational accounting functions are a must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist with month-end close.
Prepare daily cash entries; reconcile cash accounts; research and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
Prepare positive pay daily.
Analyze data and verify information.
Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Handle tax requests and notices.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting required.
Some hands-on Accounting experience within a corporate environment preferred, but not required.
Lending industry experience is highly desirable.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Language Ability
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in person, in writing and by telephone.
Computer Skills
Advanced use of MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
