Job Description : Summary
Assist students and parents through the full financial aid cycle. Award financial aid according to government and institutional regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide timely and responsive service while assisting students and parents.
Evaluate the eligibility of undergraduate and graduate financial aid applicants, utilizing ISIR data, federal tax forms, and other financial documents.
Ensure new students have completed the required financing plan.
Conduct financing plan overview with prospective students.
Use technological & analytical tools to help students find funding solutions.
Communicate regularly with the Admissions department to contact prospective students needing financial aid assistance.
Collaborate with Student Services, Registrar, and other departments as needed.
Update awards and financial plans in the student system as necessary.
Adhere to laws, external regulations, internal policies, procedures, and requirements governing areas of responsibility.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Education:
Associate degree or equivalent education and experience required.
Experience:
Two or more years of experience working in the financial aid and/or business office function at a post-secondary institution.
Demonstrated experience working effectively with students and administration.
Skills:
Good knowledge of FERPA and federal, state, and institutional financial-aid program rules, regulations, and processes.
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
Ability to prepare and explain preliminary award letters to prospective, continuing students and their parents (when warranted).
Outstanding written, verbal, and listening skills.
High attention to detail.
Ability and willingness to discern and meet the needs of students.
Ability to establish interpersonal rapport and relate to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.
Strong computer skills including the ability to collect and analyzes information.
Ability to use automated systems such as (EdConnect, COD, NSLDS, ELM, and Campus Nexus).
Ability to work in collaboration with multiple teams, such as Admissions and Student Services.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.
