Job Description : GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Infusion Financial Customer Service Specialist I.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Position purpose
Responsible for patient outreach, communication, and education. Serves as the initial and ongoing point of contact for patient questions about infusion services, insurance benefits, third party medical policies, financial assistance, patient cost shares, patient statements. Obtains and enters updated patient demographic information. Assists in obtaining financial assistance or patient payments as needed for infusion patients.

Communicate with infusion patients prior to service and explain infusion process, insurance benefits, financial assistance options, and financial responsibility
Obtain necessary documents and information to submit for financial assistance via online portal, telephone, fax, or paper
Keep patient informed of status of authorization and financial assistance decisions
Thoroughly answer questions about EOBs, statements, insurance benefits, and medical policies
Obtain updated patient demographic and insurance information
Accurately and timely enter updated patient demographic and insurance information
Obtain financial assistance information, documents, and assistance card information accurately and timely
Function as the primary point of contact for the patient for questions about infusion services, insurance benefits, financial assistance, patient statements, patient deductibles, copays, and co-insurance
Actively listen and build a trusting, caring relationship with the patient
Work collaboratively with other groups in infusion revenue cycle to fully address patient concerns and questions
Refer complex issues to the supervisor for review and or action
Provide quality service to patients
Abide by all federal, state, and payer requirements and regulations
Attend department and management meetings as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Education: High school diploma or GED required
Experience: Minimum one (1) years of infusion experience, or two (2) years medical customer service, financial assistance, or patient collections experience is preferred. Infusion intake, customer service, or financial assistance experience is a plus.
Requirements for Level I Status:
Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision.
Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.
Performance Requirements:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent customer service skills are required.
Passion to connect with patients and advocate for patient centric solutions.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Proficient computer skills, including MS Office experience, particularly in MS Word and MS Excel.
Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment.
Strong understanding of healthcare plans.
Ability to read, understand, and explain medical benefits.
Ability to read, understand, and explain payer medical policies.
Ability to read, understand, and explain medical EOBs.
Bilingual is a plus.
Medical terminology (CPT, ICD 10) knowledge.
Self-motivated with initiative.
Strong sense of ethics.
